New York – Free WordPress Theme Release
I am once more so excited to release our new theme ‘New York’ the main excitement reason is that i am giving away something to WordPress community which usually people sell. I believe New York is good enough that anybody with personal blog or any kind of blog (it depends on liking) will be willing to use it. New York comes with a lot of stuff, full features are listed below but you need to see Live Demo in order to feel it. Grungy/Urban/Transparent/Elegant everything is here with a lot of practical features

What can I adjust from Admin Theme Options??
- Sidebar 125 x 125 ads: You can tune sidebar ads from inside your theme options just enter banner URLs and enter link for them.
- Twitter, Facebook and RSS buttons: You can enter your twitter profile link, Facebook profile/fan page link, feedburner feed address.
- Email Subscription form: You can Setup your sidebar Email subscription form within Admin theme options.
- About me box: Change your About box picture, text and link.

Installation:
- Extract the new-york.zip file in a convenient location
- Copy the ‘new-york’ folder to ‘/wp-content/themes/’ directory in your web server.
- Log in to the WordPress Administration Dashboard
- Select the ‘Themes’ sub-menu from ‘Appearance’ tab
- Select the New York theme from the available list of themes to preview
- Activate the theme.
Where are Admin Theme Options??
- After Activating New York theme
- Look for ‘New York Options’ tab in sidebar menu
How ‘Featured’ post works?
- Creat a new category named ‘Featured Articles’
- Upload/attach any image to the post (more than 300px wide recommended)
- While publishing post select ‘Featured Articles’ category along with others.
- You are done. First Attachment image from the post will be used as thumbnail.
For people having problems with Featured post thumbnail:
- Download this file, rename it to ‘header.php and replace it with the original header.php in New York theme directory.
- While writing a post upload an image and copy Image Url.
- Now add a custom key with name: thumbnail and value: image url
- Make sure ‘cache’ folder found in theme directory is CHMOD 777 on your server.
- Still having problems? Its probably your server does not support GD Library. Which is so rare IMO.
People having problems with Featured post thumbnail hosted on Hostgator:
- Login to your Hostgator control panel and contact Live Chat Support.
- Ask the support technician to white list your thumbnail generation file for mod_security . You will need to give your file name and path. The file name mostly will be timthumb.php . You can find this file inside the WordPress theme folder. An example file path wp-content/themes/new-york/cropper.php

Besides the pretty picture in the center panel of the header between the social media links and the about me box?
can it be customized to to put a small video or a slide show in it? if so … where do you go to make those changes.
So I was able to figure out how to get something in the featured article box … but I would prefer to use this box to play a quicktime video instead …. any suggestions how I can either make videos featured or that I can use this area to manually imbed video clips

FYI……after hours of frustration over the featured Articles box in the header I figured it out. Your category slug has to be Featured Articles as well. You can't use a short slug name.

Hey,
First of all great theme!
Only problem is that I can't get the feedburner to work.
I've filled in the correct details on the admin page and enabled the
email function on feedburner itself.
But then when I fill in my mail in the subscription box, it gives me
a feedburner window saying "The feed does not have subscriptions by email enabled".
How can I fix this ? It is enabled, and feedburner receives my posts correctly.
thanks for the theme love it but like most people i am having problems with the featured articles. tried every method but still have problems. the name of the post shows but no image…changed the chmod to 777 on the cache folder. tried uploading new header php….

Hey! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this theme!
The only trouble is I can't seem to add pages to the header to navigate from there.
Can anyone help? I'm not too familiar with html and computer talk!!!!! argh!!!!!!

Altough, I'm loving this theme
If ou want to more pages show in your header follow this:
First go to header.php and then find " <?php wp_list_pages('title_li=&depth=1&number=8'); ?> "
Here Change the "number" to the number of pages you want to appear. In my case i want 8 pages appearing in my blog.

The layout is awesome though.
Also still having problem with Featured image showing up in featured box … followed your instructions with new header.php file and chmod 777 "cache" folder … please help!!

Do as suggested in that blog post and it will work, it worked for me and another Hostgator hostee I showed this too who was having the same issue.

Thanks for this great theme. I am having an issue with the top button (for pages) moving underneath the "featured content" box… only in IE 7. Is there a solution to fixing this?

From theme options page. Readme.txt can lead you anywhere you want to go.
I read the Readme.txt which really has been helpful for me in the past, thank you. On this occasion, I was meaning that I would like to change my avatar, the one that comments display when contributors or authors leave comments. Is there somewhere to allow their photo next to their comment? Thanks for all your help. You have been especially kind.

It was due to recent migration to another server. I fixed the download link you can download it again
I love this theme would like to change my blog title to my logo. Do you know how I can accomplish this? I saved my image in my media on the wordpress admin page but I am not sure how to add it to the header folder. Any help is much appreciated.

what does this mean?
I think I have solved the Featured article dilemma. In the custom field part of the post. Enter thumbnail as the name, then where it says value,. don't put all the http://www. stuff in. just enter everything after the part of the link starting with /wp-content . It worked for me! Hope it helps
i like the theme. but how can i add more pages on the top navigation bar, i already have hidden the blog title. thanks
